Scott Small – February Mix

Having grown up in Cape Town, Scotty was only exposed to Electronic Dance music for the first time in the mid 90s. Fortunately, the sound and sheer energy of The Industry, hooked him immediately. Spending most of his early years (mid to late 90s) as a ‘follower’ of The Industry, Scotty’s passion for Electronic Music grew.

He started his DJ career in 1999, playing ‘Hard House’ and ‘Uplifting Trance’, spending most of the following 3 years in the Clubs, and playing House Parties in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs. In 2002, the ‘Business Bug’ bit and Scotty moved into Event Management and Production, forcing him to shift his focus towards Electro and House.

In 2006, he stepped back from Corporate Production and Management, and now co-owns a small, par-time production
company with two friends. Scotty also runs a weekly ‘Trance & Progressive ‘Internet Radio show called ‘Come Down Monday’ with fellow Trance enthusiast, Shaun Holiday, allowing him more time to concentrate on his own, preferred style of music.

Although essentially considered a Trance DJ, Scotty is always experimenting with different sounds, due to his colorful musical background …which has landed him doing reworks and edits for DJs of various musical styles.

He applies his trade on CDJs mainly …but also uses Ableton Live, which makes for some interesting intros, breaks and vocal add-ins to his mixing.

Over the years, Scotty has developed a refreshing musical approach, with entertainment being the core of every performance. All of his sets have a distinctive progression to them, and his music is always fresh …morphing and molding, depending on his set times, but always portraying a classic Trance feel, in tune with his musical personality.

Rest assured that every set, is carefully thought through and prepared for, and that each performance will be an exciting and interesting journey from start to finish.
