An impressive bio from a 20 year veteran in the industry and without a doubt one of the most experienced DJ’s to ever come out of South Africa. Darren Afrika started DJing in the early house days of the house revolution. Starting his first club night in 1991 and moving with the sound, genres of the day he first started out as a Balearic DJ playing house on the side, moving to a Trance liva PA act called Greenwave to now currently releasing Jackn, Fidget, Breaks and Electro productions.

Having launched a career out of Durban, starting Durbans 1st afterhours club, Club ad in the early 90s to being one of the founders of the legendary Cape Town dance scene instigating where its at today, Darren has lived and DJed in 4 countries inc: South Africa, UK , Greece and now the USA (Dallas,tx).

Darren has been privileged to have been DJing in a variety of exotic destinations & events from doing private parties for the likes of Tom Jones, Skunk Anansi, De Caprio, Campbell to performing with acts as diverse as Grace Jones, Blue October to guesting at MCQP (Cape Towns pride), Athens gay pride in 1999. He has performed at WMC (Miami), South by southwest music festival (Austin), North Sea jazz festival and more.

Darren has graced the decks from 330/ad’s etc (Durban) to the Gallery/ Fez/ Loft/ Pure etc(Cape Town) to Therapy/DNA/etc(Pretoria) to Sunnyside up, Strawberry Sundae, Heaven, Turnmills, Club 414 (London), Galaxy, Tango, Mustang, Sabbia(Athens) to the Village Station,Velvet Hookah, Afterlife, etc (Dallas)
